Hey Clickteam,
I'm in the end stages of my game and have been test building my game on my server. I updated my PC with Windows 10 and now my game won't build. Is there an issue with Fusion and Windows 10?
I think I had similar issues and had to re-install Fusion after the Windows 10 update. Some programs doesn't handle the update well.
Oh great Chrilley!
Okay, this is my first fusion game. Do I just re-install like I did the first time I installed Fusion? Will I lose any of my game files? Thanks!
You won't lose your current games. Save them to a USB drive if you're going to install a fresh copy of W10. If it's just an update to W10,.then save your games to the desktop to a games folder.
I don't know man, hide the USB under your bed just to be sure!
Okay,
I reinstalled Fusion and updated my game. I just tried building and I get this error, "The parameter is incorrect." Does anyone know what this means?
Hey Emerson,
just to add some details,
do you get that error on windows build or HTML5 or iOS..
or every build type / same error?
(looks like I will keep far away from that malicious update button still some time then XD)
I've only tested so far on HTML5! I updated to windows 10 thinking maybe my game would load/perform better, and it was free XD.
The whole game almost builds and right at the end it gets caught up on a sound byte. So I just deleted all my sound files from the whole game and it let me build! I'm about to load files onto Filezilla and then my server to test. So I will keep post up to date.
But beyond that, I like the update! Computer looks and runs a lot better.
Here is an important life lesson:
If everything is working, dont do anything :b
Hahahaha!!! That's funny Marius and I'm learning the truth to that statement.
I hate exporting. There, I said it. XD. But I won't give up!
XDXD
maybe try (re)installing java runtime environment and checking jre folder in Fusion?
Could possibly be gone after the Win10 update?
(you can build windows executable fine?)
Hey Schrodinger,
I downloaded the JRE File. Do I save it in Fusion's folder?
You should install it in your "C:\program files\Java" folder
(check out if you already have it installed, but a reinstall could also help)
Then inside fusion, click "tools - preferences - general"
and make sure you have your JRE path correctly set in Exporters - HTML5 - Pathname of the JRE directory
Just a test, I think a missing JRE gives a specific error different from the one you are experiencing :(
Btw, does this happen on both "HTML5 final" and "HTML5 development" builds?
Just as a test, you could try both.
I think JRE is required for the final build.
(didn't understand if this error show only on HTML5 builds or also in Windows builds?)
EDIT _______
oh sorry I think I missed your post when you said there was a sound problem
were those mp3s/oggs other..?
maybe you are missing some encoders for your sound files?
Thanks Schrodinger,
Yes. I tried both developmental and final. If it is encoders, what is that and where do I get them from?
Also, I went through every frame and deleted ever sound to test and I'm getting "The Parameter is incorrect." Have you ever come across that?
No this never happened to me :(
and that error line feels very generic so it's hard to tell what may be going on!
Not likely that the sounds are involved then, if you removed all of them without luck.
Sorry if I ask again, but...
does this error shows up when your build type is a windows exe application, or only on HTML5 project?
It is important to know if it's a general issue with Fusion or if it's only related to the exporter.
I only ran it as HTML5. But after dinner, I'll test with exe and let you know!
it worked with Windows 10 for me, I'm pretty sure I exported a few apps on Windows 10,
One other thing Schrodinger is that P3D is not working anymore. I redownloaded P3D from Clickstore and added both quad effects but when I run the frame it stays grey, no 3d. :( I can view Map view but not 3d? Puzzling.
Also, I ran it as an .exe and it built great, really quickly too! I'm busy today but will def check this post!
:O omg really?
do other shaders work?
have you tried adding some simple shader to some objects and see if that works ok?
I'm a bit on a run now as well today, surely worth taking a closer look to this issue!
Just to clarify. Are you asking if shaders work in regular Fusion or in P3D?
I'll test in regular fusion just so I'll have an answer if that's what you mean!
Sorry have been quite busy these days!
Yes, I was asking about any other shader inside another fusion application
not being P3D X)
But thinking at it, you should at least see sprites (green guy, purple monster..), even if shader is not working, so maybe there's some other problem??
Very odd - and scary.
Man, I'm worried about this Win10 thing, hope you'll be able to fix it,
and there are no issues for other people updating pcs & Fusion.
I'm holding doing that update from a while now,
more because can't afford waiting that much for the install time and -worse- losing twice the time to fix things / add software that surely will be missing/badly ported after the update..
was actually very tempted, but will still hold, given also your unlucky experience! :(
Sorry to bring up this thread,
but I've been informed of another problem very similar to the one Emerson talked about few posts ago:
P3D shows a completely grey (>> we know this is the frame background color) screen when there should be active objects hanging around
The same just happened to another user who recently bought a pc with Windows10
(he has anoter lower-specs no-win-10 computer that runs the file correctly)
Seems like among the four layers present in this .mfa,
only foremost two show correctly, other two just don't show at all (!)
Is there any known issue Fusion/Windows10?
Is Clickteam aware of it?
Are you already working on a solution Clickteam guys?
If I won't hear a word,
I'll collect some other detail from bugged users and post this in the bugbox.
Thank you
As an aside, whenever upgrading your OS I highly recommend starting from a clean slate and formatting the drive during the install process. Upgrading your existing installation can cause problems sometimes. Yeah it's a pain backing up your files and reinstalling everything but I think it's worth it. That said, I have no idea if that's actually the problem here.
I'm wondering why you upgrade to 10?
You can't beat the old motto "If it's not broken, don't fix it". I've heard a lot of people have various 'issues' with Win 10 and quite frankly I'm sticking with Win 7 for the forseeable future. Better safe than sorry
Hahaha.
Thanks PaulFoster, I'm wondering too. :( But it's getting serious now though. I'm going on two weeks and I don't know why it won't build now. I'm beyond ready to release this game and move forward!
I would say reinstall everything.
I have a fresh windows 10 computer here and also one I upgraded.
Haven't encountered any problems with it.
When you install Java stuff ... Perhaps also try the 32 bit version I remember the 64 bit versions had some weirdness in the past.
Maybe that is causing some build problems.
I upgraded to 10 last year and everything was and is working fine. On the upgrade installation I was informed that Clickteam Fusion will not work after the Windows 10 upgrade and I had to reinstall it with the installer and apply the latest update, otherwise the application would not run. I had to reinstall exporters as well. After that everything worked fine. Make sure that you also install your latest GFX drivers so shaders will work again.
The only problem I still have is that Fusion crashes when I exit the application, which is not a big deal for me (just one extra OK click).
Interesting!
I was thinking to a Fusion reinstall as a possible experiment,
and your additional experience seems to consolidate this.
I'm probably going to suggest this test to the guy reporting issues.
(although he said that he "bought a new computer" so he could possibly had already a Win10 copy inside, no upgrade...
but I've not really checked this actually, going to ask him!)
Did you try this route Emerson - and did it work for you?
Yeah,
I reinstalled Fusion Developer, HTML5 Exporter, and Java Runtime Environment. I get the "Parameter" error sometimes and then sometimes it won't build because of a particular sound. However, I haven't tried the 32 bit java yet. I'll upload that one tonight. :)
Schrodinger: Yeah, still no luck with P3D. If you think of any tests you would want me to run, let me know!
Thank you very much Emerson,
I'm thinking at something to try and narrow down what may be going wrong,
will send you a pm once toughts get fully baked X)
I just built an app on Windows 10 and it works fine, I have attached the MFA & the zipped EXE. The app has a few Active objects, the Web View Object and the Open URLs Object.
Happy to announce! That my game is finally building. The winning solution was to update Fusion to the latest build.
I upgraded to developer maybe 2 months ago. The build I had was 281.1. I upgraded to the latest version of Clickteam
and this fixed every issue. P3D is working great and I can build my game. Thanks to everyone who helped me in this journey.
Up to this point, I tried everything from re-installing fusion, html exporter, java, windows 10, everything! But all it took was
updating Fusion to the latest build! XD. I'm back baby!!!
