I have to add a bunch of things that I didn't know how to do back then, namely gamepad support amongst others.
Honestly this is one thing I want to make sure gets done, as I'm not getting any younger that's for sure.

Quick and sorta' sad update, but the H2 project has been permanently canceled. Thanks to anybody here who has supported me over the past 9 years with this.
I always try to learn through each new game, and H2 has just caused me a ton of stress (unnecessarily so) for too long. Every time it's moved over (1.5 -> 2, or more recently 2 -> 2.5) it has to be completely overhauled, So many aspects have been changed and re-arranged.. And lastly trying to incorporate gamepad support when I had hardcoded everything for a keyboard over 206 frames has just been a nightmare onto itself: Extremely slow-going and in the process many new bugs and errors are popping up and frankly it isn't worth it anymore. I'm 41 years old, to be 42 in a couple months' time. I am not getting any younger of course, and 9 years is just too long to be in this limbo state so it's time to cut the cord finally. If nothing else, this has been a hell of a learning experience I won't soon forget!
I also want to thank Clickteam for your awesome products over the years and in no way do I intend any of the above to be leveled at the software itself. In fact, the advances in MMF overall have me really excited and looking forward to my next project, whatever it may be!

Itch.io that keyboard only version. Don't let the 9 years you spent on it just go to waste. Just pretend that this is TDC and you've got a guaranteed win! By all means, make your next project, but unleash this one unto the world!
There's more to it than that, but honestly this is a good thing overall. I feel a lot better knowing this isn't hanging over me anymore.
I learned a lot from it, so it's not truly a waste if I think of it that way :)

If you were to release the game in its unfinished state, you could always call it "Hasslevania 2: This Space for Rent: The Unsatisfying Conclusion Edition", and then have it so that, once the player defeats the final boss you ever made for the game (or if the players accomplishes everything that is possible to do in the game, depending on whether or not you want to have parts of the game be "optional", regardless of whether or not that was the original intent of said parts of the game), the game takes you to a screen which says something like this:

And then cue the credits sequence.Quote:

Yeah I did think of doing something like that before but there's too much little bits that are unfinished I think it'd be a bad idea. Most of the voiceovers were never done so you have this little stand in sound effect about 5000 times haha.

I guess nobody could really complain that much. Hah. Hmmm.

I took your advice to heart, Shabadage, and decided to release it as-is on itch.io.

Whoa, hold on there. Can I encourage you to rethink this? It's such an enormous shame that you'd get to the final stages of your long term project and have to release it in such an unsatisfying way. The final 10% of developing a game really is deceiving and this is a reminder that no game is beyond sliding into becoming abandonware until it's actually done and released.
Regarding joypad controls, there are a couple of things you can try:
- Wouldn't it be possible to use a combination of Joypad2, ControlX (which can simulate key presses) to easily add joypad support? I haven't tried it but given their available functions I'm pretty convinced that it'd be possible.
- Using the above, you wouldn't be able to use Global Events (as far as I know!) since they're interpreted after frame events, but at most you'd have to add the objects to each frame and paste an event group at the beginning of each frame's events, or perhaps you could add a global object with a behavior. A couple of evenings' work at most?
- If all else fails, well, just forget about it? Keyboard is fine, and there are well-known utilities like Joy2Key which people can use to mimic key presses with a joypad. Not having gamepad support isn't a game-breaking issue.

Thank you, I do totally respect your feelings on this and for most people I'm sure they'd agree with you but I am in the camp of 'cut the cord and be done with it'.
There were just to many things always going wrong for way to many years.

I've started plenty of games over the years that never got finished but none of them took 9 years of my life away like this did :D
I don't think I'll ever stop making games of some sort though, it's just too much fun.
i think maybe u jinxed urself with the name.... it became 2 much a "hassle" in the end XD
but sumtimes, if u can't wrap it up & end it within a decent time, then its better to cut the coord rather than it b an eternal stumbling block, & who knows, one day u might suddenly get passion for it again & finish/recode it. but wen the drives completely not there then go where the drive is, otherwise u can go thru sum long unproductive times of nothing of any project getting done, i'm speaking from experience, i 2 have countless unfinished games including a 6 year game that i had 2 put on the side (one day i shall return to it lol)
but watever hypes u up & makes u feel like a little kid in the arcade center again, go for it!!! coz that's wen the best work comes out! :D
