Well, I swapped out all the tree graphics to having no alpha channels, but no difference. I also exported them into gifs instead of pngs, but no difference.
Yes, they're all active objects.
I could make it a background object or whatever, yes, but there's many more object order problems going on here, so I'd like to fight this problem at the source.
In the game, they're in the right order. In the quick build, they're in the right order. But in the SWF export file, objects are randomly backwards.
Truly this will be a classic game....
Okay well, while I hope to become smart and/or awake enough to wrap my head around all this eventually, for right now, it seems best to just design my way around putting all the information on one...
Yeah Behaviors actually don't even ALLOW for Qualifiers. Click Team would really be awesome if the next MMF allowed for that; it would make programming in this software so much easier.
Yeah, Behaviors; that's what I'm using. Like I said, my game is 97% behaviors.
And yes, I have 97 Global Values, and 24 Global Strings (30% of them aren't used for anything.) I have 89 Global...
The frame has 126 objects. Other frames in my game have more.
The main frame has 76 events.
All of the events within Objects themselves adds up to: 12635.
So together, it's about 12711.
It's really complicated, but basically:
It's an RPG battle screen, with the character, the enemies, and the dozens of objects and assets backing it all.
Normally, you just begin the battle by...
So when a vital frame in a game I'm making started going haywire out of nowhere in weird ways, it took me more than a day of relentless testing and switching around to figure out what was causing it....
Okay, I USED to know this, but I can't remember, and my Google-searching abilities are down, so I can't go out and find it again. *ahem*
How do you get the number of characters in a string?
Ehh, yeah like Chaos said, why would we want to make a fan M&L RPG when we could just play the Mario and Luigi games? The alternative, therefore, would be to do a subversive parody; featuring ideas...
*grabs and throws him out of the shadows and violently against the wall*
I FOUND you! *loads crossbow*
Cuuuuuurrrrrrse you, 'Disable if too far from frame'! Curse you...
Hm yes yes... remove several events at once, I'll try that.
Yes, I have removed every event and condition, one by one by one by one by one by one by one by one by one by one by one by one by one by one by one by one by one by one by one by one by one by one...
So there's a thing that is supposed to happen when the Player presses "A", but sometimes, it won't work until the frame is reloaded. It's far too complicated to actually explain, but I've tried to...
Yes, yes that could be a solution.
I have a global value that controls the Volume of sound effects. Here's how it works:
SF VOLUME = 25
Upon pressing "Z" > Play sample "Explosion", and
Okay! I made a prototype, isolating this situation.
The link should work this time.
Is that possible? I've had to abandon the swf format and stick with exe, and am planning on just making the game downloadable and such; could it be possible to embed the file (with a preloader and...
Oh, the power of the mysterious, elusive 5779.
I want a 2 minute sample to skip to about 6040 milliseconds ahead, but when I did, VAAAAZZASM, what came out of my speakers was an hellish wail of...
Well, I directly changed the audio 'compression' settings on MMF before converting to Swf back and forth a bit, and the delay still happened. So I took one particular sound effect, and made it 22050...
Yeah I did a checked mode as well; and that made it stretch to fit the entire window.
I don't know what's wrong with the link...
Yeah the Resize check box isn't checked.
Here's the MFA file.
I'm just dropping the swf file into my Chrome browser. Full screen checked? I don't know...
So I have a few other issues with the Swf converter.
Firstly, the sound is delayed by about a second. Looking at people in the past with this issue, it apparently is a problem with the sound card?...
Oh duh! Turns out I actually WAS doing it right all along, I just had to have a preloader in there. Thanks!
Worst question ever: how do you actually play the swf files that are made by the exporter? I see it sitting there in the folder, but if I click on it, it asks me to find the right software to play...
Yes. Whoo. Thank you.
Yes that's what I'm doing, is there an alternative I failed to notice?
I have a global object (Active) with an animation.
At the end of this frame, this object saves its current frame value into an alterable value.
When you return to this frame, the object looks...
Ohey, I figured out a way! So nevermind.
If anyone's interested, I can explain how I did it (or I can find out that it's a real common trick that everyone already does).
As in, a Random Pool object that gives out its numbers in order?
Oh hey, it's actually duplicating for me again now. How convenient.
>I click on the object in the frame
>I hit Crtl+C
>I hit Crtl+V
>I click in the frame and the new object appears (it's an...
Welp, that's not turning out to be the case for me. Same file, same frame, same layer even. But now it's "wall 2" instead of just "wall".
I think (I think) that sometimes, when I use Crtl+C and Crtl+V on an object, it duplicates it. But other times, it clones it.
Is there a way to be in control of this?
I have a frame filled with about 48 items that combined take up quite a bit of space. I have a second frame that has no objects directly on it, however, it is programmed to create a one of each of...
That seems to extend the possible length, but it still appears to have a limit. I was able to make a string as much as 800 characters long or so.
I think understand what you mean, but you see the reason I'm having this problem in the first place is because of how short Strings have to be. I wish I could make them longer.
Sounds good, thanks.
Is it possible for set paragraphs in text objects to have Alterable Strings in them? As in...
"Not long afterwards, [Alterable String A] came into the room and made the [Alterable String B] leave."
Yippie, thanks, that worked!
I have a global value named "Pies", and it's set to 8.
I have a string object, and I want it to--at the start of the frame--have this alterable string:
"I have 8 pies"
And when playing the...
Is there a way to import new fonts into MMF2?
In fact... I'm pretty sure I already have in the past, without trying to. How is it done?
Yeah that's pretty much all stuff I did... thanks though, I'm working around the problem now, which really is pretty simple.
Here is a problem that is all about advanced, complicated stuff that is my problem and I can't explain really. This is my problem and I'll have to figure it out.
BUT, while I work on that, I'll...
Good job on figuring that out. Though I, too, found it so much better to program movement from scratch. It doesn't take me that long, and it's not that complicated. In fact, in some respects, it's...
Dude, that totally worked. I CANNOT thank you enough; the game I'm working on absolutely depended on that.
Hey that might work, thanks!
There's an active object, named "Balloon"
And there's another active: "Fred"
I want Fred to go to the same X value as the Balloon when you push Spacebar. Naturally, this can be done by saying,...
Thank you very much for the help!
Say the player goes into frame 1, where he finds an important key. He takes the key and leaves to frame 2. However, if he comes back to frame 1, he'll find that important key there, right where it...
