When i created my sprites, i used a subapp for a smaller frame in the same application to grab the full frame as i am not too sure about grabbing certain areas of the frame as this i have not done...

When you make your app properties you can simply choose the option "Compress the Runtime" and it will not use stdrt.exe and will run from its own exe, very simple

I believe if you untick "Compress the runtime" in the application properties it will not extract to a strdt.exe it will run straight from your exe every time.
