Yes it helps a lot, big image needs more pressing to display, motif will repeat a small image.
Same with scale, you can use a small image and scale it to x2 to help to save memory.
Have you tried "player is overlaping dirt" instead of checking direct collisions? I don't know if it will change something, but i always used PMO with overlaps and not collides.

Problems with your methods is that in frame transitions, if there is a lot of graphical elements to create, the app will just freeze... On Android device it's highly noticable and annoying.

Generally when an issue of this kind happens, Fusion alos needs to be reloaded, and you can jsut look into your recent files under files menu.
Reinstalling the update fixed the issue, it was in fact caused by Windows Defender that put in quarantine this file: C:\Program Files (x86)\Clickteam Fusion Developer 2.5\Data\Runtime\Unicode\edrt.exe

One more thing, when a sample has a big size, try to set it to "play from disk" instead of preload. I use that for the game musics.
