I believe you can do with by just creating copies through events and immediately set their directions on creation.
You probably need to create the number of object equal to the number of directions you want to have.
The video shows off what your game is about really well, only thing to add would be some sound. :D

What transparency color did you select when importing the image?
If it happens to be black or white you may want to pick a color you are not using like orange or pink for example.
I believe you will have to go to Transparency (Y shortcut).
It's probably set to Alpha Channel, change it to Transp. Color instead.
That should do it I think.

After some fooling around I noticed my game looks a lot more exciting with some changes in brightness and contrast.
Would be cool if you have different kinds of enemies/aliens that either shoot at you or chase you. Things like that. Good luck on further progress of the game. :)
