You can change a flag or value of object. If it's moving it will be different than while standing. And while this value or flag is set, change animation, else change it to static.
Take a flag, for example flag 1, let it be "selected unit flag", and try something like this:

Yep, 100% black is transparent for MMF2. You can change 0,0,0 to for example 1,0,0 or 0,0,1 or 0,1,0 etc. This will be still black but not 100% black :P

You can just copy extensions but the problem can be build of mmf. Some extension couldn't work with old build, so with newest build all extension will works I think.

you can make mirror effect using viewport object. :) If you want to make only mirror of text, just make it active object and flip it.
