    Rocket Core beta now available, and on Greenlight!

    Hi all,

    My game - Rocket Core - is on Steam Greenlight. If you feel inclined, please check it out and vote for us to get greenlit. This started as a game jam entry for Clickteam's 'Weirder Stuff' jam I think back in October, and we decided to run with it and expand it after the jam. It's an NES style platformer where you collect the gems and reach the exit, via your jetpack. It's similar in nature to Super Meat Boy, where there's lots of traps and such. Here're a few screenshots, the Greenlight page has some video as well. Screenshots are at 1:1 but the game is best played in fullscreen

    I like it but if I'm being honest I think the main character is too small.
    I know a lot of people make their games like this but I like a larger hero sprite (or maybe more zoomed in or something).

    Ah gotcha I was wondering what your comment meant on the page. We kinda went back and forth on this and ultimately decided to do the current size because it was too difficult to balance the scale of other stuff with the larger character, especially through drops or tunnels where it's one tile tall. Playing in full screen helps a lot, and we've added touches to make sure you see where your player appears so you're not searching when the level begins. If we can figure something out, we may still try it. It would be easy to do, we have a separate collision mask already so the player sprite you see is basically just for show.

    That's true, if you had it zoomed in more you wouldn't be able to see all the drops and traps and that'd be no good

    Love the look and especially the sound of the game, looks kinda similar in style and colour-scheme for a game I was working on. The main char looks almost identical to the one i did!

    I think you should maybe zoom in a little bit, though you'd have to test to make sure all levels we're suitable for the zoom. Add zooms and screen shakes (upon death/impact etc), everyone knows games become 10x better with them :p
