Why is it that when my games sidescroll, background objects get blurry?

Just curious. I notice that, when the screen sidescrolls, the objects lose a little of their detail in terms of sharpness. All objects except the objects that follow the camera (screen sidescrolling).

I thought maybe this could be of my directx or graphic drivers, or maybe I havent a graphic option enabled in the program itself.. Any special reason behind this?

Could you upload your mfa and any files you might have built?

Once it starts, press key 1. Walk around and notice the objects getting blured, and the player character not (at least for me).

I don't really notice any blurriness in the background gg7gg7, have you tried using a software that takes individual screenshots every frame to see if they are actually blurred for you?

I have not taken screenshots but video clips. And when the video is rolling or when I pause either way, there is no blur. But the movements in realtime gives that effect. Maybe it's just me.. or my computer.

I found this. Looks like someone else noticed this..

Sometimes it is simply the way your graphics card handles the game. On my old desktop I would get motion blur, but on my laptop I don't.

Try turning on V-sync in you haven't already.

For me the background keeps shaking when you are still, but not when you're moving right.

What sort of monitor do you have? CRT? LCD? Led?

Also, take a screenshot while moving and while not moving. Does the lack of detail appear in the moving screenshot as well, or just when it's in motion? (if so, embed them here so we can see)

Advaith, maybe you havent pressed key 1 first?

Hi Volnaiskra, my laptop monitor is LED. The screenshots give perfectly crisp images, no blur impression at all. Could it be my eyes are playing tricks on me or could have something to do with the monitor frequency. I don't know. But of course, because of this, it doesnt render a game unplayable. No worries..

Ok, so it sounds like everything that moves is getting blurry. I'm sure your player and foreground elements would move too if they weren't following the frame.

Probably your screen. Finding out the response time might give you a clue. I think about 5ms or more is said to create noticeable motion lag/blur.

I'd suggest loading up an AAA game (or any commercial game not made in Fusion) and seeing if it happens there too. It may just be that you only noticed it in Fusion because you, as the developer, were paying closer attention than you have before
