Question Jumping in an isometric view?

I am trying to figure out how to add the ability to make the character jump when moving around from a isometric view.

This is the movement I am currently using to control the character: jump.mfa

What would be the best way of doing this?

I have tried a couple of things but nothing works the way I want it to.
I just want the ability to jump at a consistent height and move simutainiously.

I have managed to get it working well when jumping forward or backwards horizontally. But as soon as the character jumps and moves up or down vertically he either jumps "really high" when moving downwards, or jumps "really short"
    when moving upwards.

I just want a consistent jump height no matter where you jump.

Use shadows and not the character. Fake the jump. Make the shadow bigger and little again.

How do I fake the jump?
The only thing I can think of is faking the jump by making a jump-animation where the hot-spot moves down 1px per frame played on the animation.
    Is there a better solution?

I have this very old Mario RPG movement example, but it is in CNC .cca format and is somewhat poor. Do you still want to look at it?

the file you uploaded isn't really isometric, so if you're just looking for a simple solution - you can modify this example I made

if you wanted genuine isometric movement + jumping, the Iso Light example (on the clickstore?) features genuine Iso jumping/layering/collisions.

sry, my mistake. its not isometric. its from the same view as your example file DaveC
i tried your example file out and implemented the jumping mechanic into my game. did it exactly as it was in your example file,
but i still get a wierd jump when jumping upwards/downwards. why is that?
i can't see that problem in your example file.
but when i try to implement it into my game then the character still jumps "shorter" when moving upwards and jumps "higher" when moving downwards.

is it because my game is run at a smaller resolution than yours? its run in 384x216.
i had to tweak the jump-strength numbers etc from your example to fit my game, but the result should be the same nontheless right ?

check line 11 and 12 of my file - you can see also when the player is moving up/down the sprite is also moved up/down as well, to account for that.
