    Game Window Size quesiton

I am making a platform game and wanted to know a good Window size to make it. This game will be for personal use and my screen size is 1920x 1080, but am afraid that will blow out the engine.

What is a good size to make my game but still have good quality graphics?

    Thanks

The default window size of CT Fusion apps is 640x480. But it really depends what you are going for. I'll use some of my Mega Man fan works as an example. They use window size of 512x448, which is 2 times the size of a regular 256x224 NES game. Though I use the 'resize display to fill window size' option. So, if you're working on a game that uses small sprites in a 100x100 window, you could easily resize the window to 500x500, and keep the aspect ratio of your game.
But if you are working on an HD style game, then you prob want something bigger than 640x480.

It really depends on the preference, and style of your game.

I think you misunderstood. I want to make a nice hi-rez game but don't want to break the system. I have a pretty hot game computer, but 640x480 sounds pretty old school. Is that what modern platform games are created at? Or is click team Fusion not able to make a solid platformer games at a higher resolution?

They are capable of doing anything, but what I am saying is you can choose what resolution you want. Since it's for personal use anyway, might as well go with the setting you like.

I understand that I can make anyting. But I am looking for practical advise for a larger sprite on a larger area that will not lag my even powerhouse machine.

I was thinking on my 1920x1080 monitor making an 800 x 400 window for a 5000x 3000 level play area. Too big?

Maybe try make it full size then resize it later if you need to it wouldn't take long to resize everything. some people make their graphics 2x to 4x as big as they need to future proof them. Or if you're still worried try divide your resolution by 2 so 960x540.

    The resolutions are as follows:
640x480 Standard definition 4:3 (Clickteam default)
    1280x720 High definition 16:9
    1920x1080 Full HD 16:9

If you're not satisfied, just make a window size that you are most comfortable with.
