Bug: Button invisible in Direct3D, but Active System Box OK

Button can be clicked, but does not appear. New button in fresh app.

Made the person I was helping through the ChocoBreak tutorial get a bit disheartened.

In Direct3D display mode, the button appears in frame editor. Not in Run App.
Active System Box displays and works OK regardless.
(I'm aware Direct3D is a Windows-only display mode, but behaviour should be consistent.)

Affects both Windows and Mac application export type.

I'll put system specs here JIC:
    Mac OS X 10.14.2 Mojave
    Processor 1.4 GHz Intel i5
    Memory 4GB DDR3
    Intel HD Graphics 5000 1536MB
    Display 1440x900
