Cannot create registry key in Windows 10/64

I'm trying to create a key in Windows 10 but it won't work. I read in this forum that 32 bit keys are created elsewhere (I assume this means registry keys created by 32 bit software like ICP), but I need the key in the proper place as it will be read by 64 bit software. It *really* needs to end up in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE... How do I do that?

This option was added in the build #44:

"- New: on 64-bit machines you can install keys to the 64-bit HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software folder by replacing Software by Software64 in the key name. These keys will be accessible by your 64-bit applications. Note: if you want to install your 64-bit applications to the 64-bit Program Files folder, just use the #Program Files (x64)# macro."
