How to create a Lacewing server online? dark-wire.com is down!

Given the problem with dark-wire.com I'm trying to set up an lacewing internet server.

I tried to open the ports of the router (6121 and 6122) and windows firefall, and enter my IP address to server but I can not connect with the client, it only connects with localhost.
what am I doing wrong? I want to make a server from my computer to connect clients from the internet !!! :-(

I ask you to know what I'm wrong, thank you so much !!!

First, run a ping test from a different computer or network (have a friend do it) to see if you can be seen by others.

To get your public IP go to https://www.whatismyip.com/

This is the IP address you should ping.

To do so, open the command prompt (type cmd in the start menu, click the icon that pops up.)

Type ping xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx - replacing the x marks with your public IP.

    You should receive 4 replies.

If you can ping yourself and your ports are properly forwarded on your router then I believe you should be able to connect to yourself using the public IP.

Your ISP can also block this sort of thing I believe. At least I know with web hosting you can't like host a website through Charter

There's also the option to just rent a server but that's not a free solution. Getting a server where you can run your own software on it is usually a bit expensive as it needs to be dedicated. (imagine if 5 people were sharing the same server and all running whatever executables they wanted on it... wouldn't be too reliable)

+1 for ISP blocking. But there are a few places that will lease you a cheap Windows VPS for a few bucks a month. Should be sufficient to run a lacewing server.

Heyo @TopWeb , sorry my site is dying.
I don't have any details, only it's to do with my ISP, an OpenReach engineer spent five hours looking at it, and when it doesn't work the entire building loses internet and 85% of all packets are lost. The engineer has forwarded the issue to the ISP after exhausting all his fix options, but my ISP is very confused as all their tests are passing.

As far as hosting your own, the Bluewing server release thread has some details about what you need to do. ISP firewall unblocking may be needed.
To deduce if a PC firewall is active, try connecting over LAN. To deduce if a ISP firewall is active, make sure LAN works, port forwarding is set up – both first – and then try connecting over Internet.
Also, make sure you unblock both TCP and UDP in router port forwarding.

If you buy a server, Windows and Linux can be used – pylacewing for the second one. There is a setup guide and details linked on DW relay page, ironically.

I don't know, and neither does my ISP so far, why my building is having internet issues. What triggers it is still unknown, so I can't give an ETA on the fix or prevent it. I could move my services to the cloud, but it'll be significantly more expensive, for what is most likely a one-off and rare issue. I'm considering it, though. My servers have had good reliability until now.

Thank you all for the answers, I think it's a problem with ISPs. At the moment I try in localhost, then if things work I'll see how to do it. Thanks again to everyone. very kind.
