File object encoding unicode vs ansi

    Hi all,

    Using 2.5+ Developer.

I need my Fusion app to create and run a batch file. I have created the batch file using the File object, and it is written successfully, but its encoding is Unicode, and won't run because it needs to be ANSI. But I can't find a way to specify the file encoding in the File object.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to make this work?

    Thanks!

UPDATE: This is a bug. The File object ignores the "character encoding options" attribute in the application properties and will always output Unicode no matter what. The Edit object, however, obeys the setting and I was able to output a batch file using the Edit object by changing the output file encoding to ANSI.

Since the bug box is down, I am reporting this here. Can someone from Clickteam please confirm that this is noted for review?

    Thanks!

I've been stuck in this problem, and I'm looking for other ways, but I haven't found any. I have to give up some projects, hoping someone can solve this problem! ________

Hi Christian_Wheel, did this get fixed? I've got a similar problem. I would like to make a batch file. If you have it working, could you post an example .mfa of how to make a working batch file within Fusion.

I think you could use a List object. Add each line of the batch file to a List object and then use the Save List function of the object. The output of the Save List function depends on the "Character encoding options / Output" property in the Runtime properties of the application.
