    Bounce is grayed out

    Hello.

New user - just testing out the free version to see if this would be something that interests me.

I'm following some instructions to create a game similar to the old Atari Pong game with two paddles that "hit" a ball.

I have looked over my steps and am missing something, but I can't figure out what I missed.

The instructions tell me to go into event editor, right click on paddle 1, and click "bounce." But "bounce" is gray.

Somewhere in the steps I must have missed turning it on, but after going back over, I don't know where.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks.

You need a ball - and it must have "bouncing ball" movement selected - under its Properties - Movement - Type

You need a collision event between the ball and the paddle - in that event you'd tell the ball to bounce when it collides with the paddle.

    Thanks for the reply.

The ball does have bouncing properties.

Both paddle one and two have collision events.

The problem seems to be where paddles one and two leave the play area.

Under the paddle - you can select position - and then is paddle getting closer to x pixels from window edge - and then under the paddle insert movement & stop.

Where x pixels can be any amount you choose - 20 would work - it depends how close you want it to get.

This will more or less keep the paddles in the room (the player can override this if they really want to).
