Question Smooth and snappy frog tounge movement?

I am currently making a frog in my game that will shoot out its tounge to catch objects (think Yoshi). As of now I have a simple event however of just having a small tounge object that gets increased very rapidly in X size and then decrese in X size again. It looks ok, but I am thinking there should be ways to do it in a more smooth and snappy way that makes it look a bit more "juicy". Anyone have an idea on how to do it in a good way? I have uploaded the example on what I have now

Check this solution out using Sin function. I added some values like speed and distance of the tongue so you can easily control it. Hope this helps.
