    @Janette5 for me when im looking at any direction if the button isnt exactly to that direction the laser goes in another one. i hope im explaining it correctly lol

    Well at 4 seconds you move diagonally to the right and then down. Then you release the button and shoot - and it's shooting in that direction (to the right as I'm looking at the video). It's doing what it is supposed to be doing.

    You don't have a diagonal animation - so when the chicken moves diagonally, you will see a side or up / down animation. But it will shoot in the direction it was moving.

    Did you want the player to only shoot up, down, left and right and not diagonally?

    Ok - try this. The chicken will now only shoot up, down, left and right. It will always shoot left or right if it was moving diagonally.

    @Janette5 thank you! one last question - i set the players direction down but when i start the game up theyre looking to the left. its in the first line, do i have to change something in the movement group?

    The lines 12 - 20 will override the direction you set at the start of frame. So to overcome that - just insert:

    * Start of Frame
    Special : Set Global Value Q to 250

    This Value will make the chicken look down.

    @Janette5 quick question - im trying to make the player go a bit faster when moving diagonally and i just wanna make sure i did it right. the player shakes a bit while moving that way but i also tried setting the speed in line 20 but he didnt stop when i let go of the joystick. i did the edit lines 13 - 16 speed_test.mfa

    Try this attachment.

    You had speed 25 set in line 10, so every time the frame loops it will first set the speed to 25 and then to 35 and then back to 25... I deleted that line.

    On my pc it works smoothly at the same speed in all directions.
