That "thing" which tells us how close characters must be to hit each other. Can't figure it out after countless attempts of using clunky overlaps.

I'd recommend trying this:
X Distance of Enemy < Distance Between Two Points (you can set both to X or Y if you just want those measurements - they don't have to be X and Y.)
This is under the Special Object in the Expression Editor. Set the distance value you want to compare to an Alt Value in the active object. For example = Alt Value = 32 - this would detect X distance less than 32 pixels.
Thank you very much, that's what i was looking for. Sorry for long response.
As a side note, most beatemups allow a limited y range +/- the actual Y position of the target so you don't have to be EXACTLY on their y position. It is probably faster to simply do an x and y range check along with your overlap hitbox check.
Still can't figure it out even with your help, it just doesn't work properly
Distance_between_objects_004.mfa i used the Advanced Direction Object in this. Made it to try out how to use the extension a while back, maybe it can give some ideas. I know there are ways with clever math and not using an extension , bit above my head.

fredetmumu, out of curiosity, why do you answer some English posts in French, and others in English? Why not answering every English post in English? This forces the one who asked the question to open a translator to translate your message.
