    Question Limitations of String object paragraphs

    Hi. Could not find a thread with a similar topic.

    How many paragraphs can a string object handle?

    Currently, I have about 1300 paragraphs inside a single String object in my game. The game seems to work well with that number, however, the engine is quite laggy when I'm editing or adding new paragraphs to this string.
    I'm a bit worried that my engine will crash one day and therefore asking this.

    Found the following thread where someone suggests creating a loop to find out the max number of paragraphs: https://community.clickteam.com/threads/50546-Some-quick-questions-on-limits

    Have you considered loading in the paragraphs from an external file using the ini or array object?

    Yeah, I've considered that, but it's a bit too late to change the dialogue system like that. Also, I don't want a player to be able to open up a file and be able to read all the dialogues in the game. Thats one of the reasons I've used in-game string paragraphs

    Fair enough. If you use the ini+ object I think there's options to encrypt files. The array object does this also.
