    Question: How to place objects using spherical coordinates in Firefly?

    I'm trying to get a child object to stick to a point on a rotating sphere.

    How do I place objects using spherical coordinates?

    I'm using this article
    https://mathinsight.org/spherical_coordinates

    Currently I don't think I'm getting the order correct or the z-axis needs to be limited to Pi/2 anyone know where I'm going wrong?

    * Always
    Child: Set Position to Sin(ZRotation( "Sphere" )) * Cos(YRotation( "Sphere" )), Cos(ZRotation( "Sphere" )), Sin(ZRotation( "Sphere" )) * Sin(YRotation( "Sphere" ))

    my question would be why are you setting its position manually ?

    place a dummy at the same place as the thing your rotating around then parent your object to the dummy - set the correct distance
    now just rotate the dummy.

    @Triadian: I ended up parenting it straight to the sphere which works great. Though I would like to improve my knowledge of 3d math/trig. After further reading I think I would need to use aCos to limit from 0-180.
