    Making Actives trail other Actives

Hi folks, I'm gradually improving my skills, and recently getting into making a space shoot 'em up.

Folks familiar with the old scrolling shooter genre may remember you'd often get power up 'Options' ala Gradius which would trail behind your ship providing support fire, and this is something I'd like to try out - can someone suggest how I might create a similar effect, with an Active slowly following behind my ship as I move?

I could also use something like this for vapour trails following missiles and such, so any suggestions or advice would be much appreciated, thanks in advance

Something else I'd like to ask though, the rotating yellow one you've done with cosign, how would you set it so that you would have multiples of them, say four, rotating at the same speed but each starting at a different location?

Thanks Marbenx, I was able to modify your attachment with a couple of ideas for how the pods/options could work, you now move the active with WASD and fire by holding left, what I'd now ask is that when collecting the power ups, how could an effect be created where instead of the pods just 'popping' into place in orbit already around you, how could they be made to zoom in from off screen before they spin around you, or perhaps rotate outward from your centre upon creation?

Hello Fredet, what I mean is, at the moment when the orbiting actives are created, they're immediately in position around you, they just 'pop' straight into place.

Instead, is there a way to make them spawn in the centre of an object, in this case the centre active, then swirl outward until they're in the correct position to orbit you?

Like here, just as the player collects the power up

If you change "distanceFromShip" to "0", then create an event that's like

    - Active 2: distanceFromShip < (desired distance)
    -- set distanceFromShip("Active 2") to distanceFromShip("Active 2") + 1

    that should do it
