INI not updating when it is called to

I am currently trying to set the night system, the new game function, and the 6 AM screen of a FNAF fan-work to update the ini when certain events happen. I have placed a debug counter to check, along with checking the debugger. When clicking on "New Game" with the code set to update what the current Item is, it updates, but it does not change the value to "1". I am unsure about the others.

It worked fine for me, but I think I know why it didn't work for you. If you look in the Event List Editor instead of the regular Event Editor, you can see the order in which your commands are executed. When it comes to setting and loading variables like this the order is important. Under your "User clicks with left button on 'NG HitBox'" condition, you can see that the first event to be executed is the one that switches the application to a new frame, which gives the variable and INI object no time to update. If you move your "Jump to frame" event down to the bottom of that list for that condition in the Event List Editor (click and drag), it will execute last and the variable will be set in both the INI and Debug counter before switching frames. The reason it worked in the example file you gave if because the frame that the "Jump to frame" event has been deleted and this cannot be accessed by the application, this will cause the application to execute the rest of the items under that condition since the frame didn't change like it would in your application, which likely still has that missing frame. I've attached a screenshot and example file of the new order and replaced the missing second frame, which will pull the value of "Night" from the INI file once it is switched to in order to show that it worked.
