    Build 294.8 - Beta version

    Hello,

The build 294.8 is available in the Product Owner's Lounge forum.

This version is on Steam too. As usual if you want to install this beta version you need to suscribe to betas in the properties of Fusion 2.5 in the Steam client, using the code provided in the Clickteam Fusion 2.5 Beta Code thread in the Steam forum.

This build is a release candidate, i.e. if no specific important issue is reported this will be the official version of the build 294.

    Change log

    General notes about build 294:

    - Document that highlights the new features of the build 294.

    - some changes affect the content of MFA files so make backup copies of your MFA files before loading them with this version.

    - MFA files are still compatible with previous builds (though if you load and re-save them with a previous version, you'll lose value order, included frame index, etc).

    - there is a known issue in the Transition Setup dialog box, parameter controls do not use the current skin, not sure if this one will be fixed.

If any question or issue specific to this build, please post it here, thanks!

In case of problem you can reinstall any other version (no need to uninstall first, just reinstall the patch of the build you want to reinstall).

PS: the CF 2.5 patch updates all the installed exporters, as well as the 2.5+ DLC, you do not need to reinstall them.

    Thanks!

Thanks for the update, hopefully more users will experience the amazing new features of 294 very soon if this becomes the release version
Can't wait for this to be the fresh new face of Fusion, so no more people keep complaining about how "old" the UI looks

And indeed I tried to recreate most of the bugs mentioned in the changelog but couldn't as they were fixed (even the very recent crash bug reported by vol), thanks again.

So one of the first bugs discovered by another user is small elements in the animation editor just below the tools, (the area in this range):

When you said that behavior editor bug was very complex and had been around since MMF2.0, I wasn't expecting it to be fixed the next day

The Create Object dialog is no longer messed up on my PC. I noticed one very small text glitch on it once, but overall it seems fine to me now.

As Linky pointed out, some of the elements in the Animation Editor are smaller now. For example, the animation sequence names are in a smaller font now. But I actually like this, because you can now read a bit more of the names before the text gets cut off. You can also access more animations before you need to scroll or vertically resize the panel. I guess the 9+1 hotspot buttons (as pictured in Linky's post) could be a bit bigger though.

I'm getting a slightly different Crash to Desktop bug now.

So I'm in the Behaviour editor of an object (I accessed it from within my "Engine" frame). I do a Find all search for something that appears in this object's behaviours. I can use the mouse/keyboard to select search results in the Find Toolbar that belong to the "Engine" frame (eg. the blue one below). But when I select one that's from a different frame (eg. the "Foyer" frame), Fusion crashes.

Yes, it's intended, it was both for tool settings and animation names.

Did you expand the expression limit in this build? I didn't see it in the changelog.

Yes, I didn't think it was interesting enough for the general change log.

    Yves & Clickteam,

I first wish to thank you all for the hard work, especially in the recent months after releasing the beta version for the community users for testing and providing their rejects and feedback for further fixing. Many here including me, but especially @Volnaiskra, spent a huge amount of time in beta testing to make the 294 release stable and better! So the thank you all is also for the users here who took part!

Being a "klik" user since the early days of "Klik & Play", this engine became something inseparable from my life where every time an idea came to mind the "Klik" engine was my toolkit to express it.

I'm very glad to see that the first stable 294 release is just around the corner and anxious to finally use it!

As of a suggestion that exists in other tools, which I think that I once asked Clickteam about in private correspondence via email:
If it's possible, please kindly make a toolbar option to deactivate the activated products in the standalone version. I many times find myself formatting my system and then wish to re-install the standalone version including all of the add-ons I purchased, or to move my standalone version altogether from my main computer to my laptop when I'm off home for a couple of days or so, and not once encountered with reaching the maximum online activation count which requires me to contact support for resetting the activation counter. I also purchased the Steam upgrades so I could use the Steam version instead without needing to worry about activations, but the Steam client is not my favorite and it's very frustrating when Steam pushes their tedious client updates that you MUST wait for them to finish... Even in offline mode which keeps nagging you that you're in offline mode every time you launch Steam (like, duh!). Especially when I'm on my laptop on-the-go with slow internet connection. So, it would be great if we could just deactivate the standalone products and their add-ons by our own in order to reactivate them later. Thanks in advanced!

I found a few bugs with the Paint Mode when Snap-to-Grid is ON.

    1. The selected object is "flickering" once when clicking on the Paint Mode button.

    2. Duplicate objects being created - sometimes 2, sometimes even more.

    3. Objects are not always snap the closest grid bounderies but instead placed in small or huge offsets.

I'm not sure if possible, but back in "Klik & Play" & the first "The Games Factory" when the Snap-to-Grid option was set to ON, the selected object visually snapped to the grid when hovering with it (before actually placing it). If we could have a menu option to have it behave like in the past - or even just by holding SHIFT for example to make a picked object to snap to the closest grid bounderies when hovering with it - this could help a lot for users who work on a game where a fixed grid is essential.

To make it easy to understand I made a short video, though it was over 5MB and there is a file limit here, so I divided it into separate files. It covers all the issues I described + comparison of the behavior of the retired engines.

    01 - Object Flickers.zip
    02 - Duplicated Object And Inaccurancy.zip
    03 - Klik & Play Snap-To-Grid Behavior.zip
    04 - The Games Factory Snap-To-Grid Behavior.zip
