fyi, I just encountered the same bug. I wasn't doing anything abnormal, just editing some events that mess with alterable values. My app does have quite a few objects and events, but not a huge or bizzare number or combination of events that I know of.... Many of them are global objects, but that shouldn't be a problem since the event editor doesn't seem to be aware of their "globalness" anyway.

Ah, not good. <img src="/center/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> I was almost sure Francois had fixed this issue in MMF2, but apparently there is another case where this happens.

If you have a backup of your application (the one that contains the bad objects and/or an older version that works fine), please send it to me, thanks!.

I'll make sure we find a solution so that at least this problem is detected when we save the application until we can fix it.

    Yves.

Re: Horrible Event Editor Bug: Lost HOURS of Work!

I always set my auto-backups to 10. I used to set it to 20 in MMF1.5. Every public version of something I release, I take that version's source, zip it up, and put it in another folder. Once in a while, I move source code to different hard drives in case one dies randomly. Remote backups are better yet.

I too have lost days worth of work through random problems. When I work on something, be it MMF or TextPad, I hit Ctrl+S no less than every 5 minutes.

I think the dumbest thing I did in this reguard was this. I once installed one of my programs into the source code's folder, and then uninstalled it. Well, the uninstaller was set to remove every file and all sub-folders of the install path, so you can imagine my heart beat as I was desperately saving files from TextPad and MMF, which were still open, even though the files were all gone. I didn't lose that much data that day, thankfully. ^_^

lol... I do the same thing (unconcious save)...

Yves, I e-mailed you a corrupted game file. I've experienced the bug more than once now. I think both times I was messing with alterable values of the "Summon Sparkle" object.
