[]Heh, it probably won't shed any light on anything, I think you found the problems yourself. heh

MMF is strong, but when you beat it up and throw all sorts of stuff at it, it's going to fail eventually.

Think of it like getting the wrong blood type in a transfusion...

I rarely start something in one app and try to bang the sqaure peg into the round hole in another. <img src="/center/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> [/]

In my experience, no code is perfect. All products are riddled with minor flaws and bugs or suboptimal implementations... but that's okay. As a programmer, you have to realize that there is no one "right" way and that the code can *never* be perfect. You just have to make it as good as you can and hope the flaws are small and insignificant enough that they won't be a problem for the end user... <img src="/center/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Heh, they had plenty of bugs, too! They had to manually reprogram one of the Lunar landers at one point because of a software glitch, I think. The Universe is an organism of such infinite complexity that it's seemingly chaotic at times... in other words, accidents happen! hehe...

Seriously, though, if you haven't seen From Earth To The Moon (HBO miniseries about the Apollo moon missions), I highly recommend it. I consider it the perfect companion piece to "The Right Stuff" (which tells the story of the astronauts up to right before the Apollo missions).

I believe Harvy was commenting on the fact that bugs in the space program can be much more severe than bugs in games. Of course perhaps I'm reading it incorrectly instead.

Re: Horrible Event Editor Bug: Lost HOURS of Work!

it was sort of a joke... back when I took Calculus, if someone made a sign mistake (mixing up + / -) our professor would say, "At least this isn't a rocket, where the difference of signs is up and down".

It is possible to write bullet-proof code, but as the size of a system increases, the expense becomes much greater. Air-tight software engineering is possible, like the 100% pure rooms where computer chips are made, but usually that sort of thing is more of a concern for NASA, air traffic controllers, or programming of nuclear weapons <img src="/center/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Anyway, I'm glad CT is hard at work nailing out the bugs in MMF <img src="/center/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
