MooClick hosting technique question...

What I want in my game is like any other commercial game. A server list. Now I got a whole plan to do this. However, I seem to be quite stuck with the hosting. From what I've heard and understood from the documents, you can host a Moo server with MooClick. This allows people to connect to the server via your IP, right? As in, no other server is needed except the access to your PC (an open port). Am I correct or am I misunderstanding the whole MooClick document?

I can tell what my technique is for the server list, but it's going to be a long read then.

The easiest technique for a 'master list' (given most people here have access to little or no real resources) is to:

* Construct a php based backend to manage a serverlist
* Clients access the page to retrieve a list
* Hosting players inform the master server every few minutes that their server is still there - and they will drop off the list automatically within X minutes if no response is received

This is very efficient and requires zero maintenance.

That was sort of my planning for a master list. I already have a nice hosting server with plenty, and I mean plenty of bandwidth. I can use a specific site to retrieve the external IP of the server.

However, before I can start all this, I need to know if hosting a MooClick really goes via IP alone and that I don't need anything else. So I can create the software to host a server (listen and dedicated).

You should test yourself!

When you host a server with mooclick/moogame/moosock, its not being re-routed to any other point on the internet - its going direct.
