    A true C++ generator?

    Does anyone out there know if the Games Factory line (MMF2,etc.) is a true C++ generator? As in; Are the created games actual C++ code? If unprotected, could a C++ coder modify a game? Sometimes, a generation product will create a kind of proprietary pseudo-code which can't be modified outside the generator. For me, generating actual C++ would make the products more valuable: A new game idea could be quickly mocked up for testing and the best of them then given to traditional coders for 'fine tuning' (even the best commercial generators tend to create redundant code). Does anyone know? Thanks,
    Warren Shore

    TGF2/MMF2 doesn't generate a C++ binary output, but a kind of "script" that is run by a C++ runtime.

    Re: A true C++ generator?

    The click stand-alone programs are based like that:
    There is one exe file that can read "Click Code".
    The "Click Code" is the binary code of your frame editors, event editor etc. which is added after the exe file. Then, the exe file reads this part from itself, transaltes it and run.
    Anyone correct me if i'm wrong.

    if you wanted a C++ exporter for MMF... you would be talking about a product way over £10,000 :/

    MMF could be compared with Java <img src="/center/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

    But yet, Java is not as powerful and easy-to-us as MMF2 <img src="/center/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

    java is fast and scripting whereas MMF is drag and drop, java isn't anything like any click software, jamagic maybe but not MMF. You get huge MMORPGs online (in the browser) in java, you dont in MMF (yet), you get text to speach engines in java (yes they are slow but they work), you would have to specially make and convert into MMF 2 format a lot of C++ code for it to work in MMF.

    Java compiles into Java bytecode which has to be interpereted by a Java Virtual Machine. It becomes "true" machine code at the last minute thanks to the JIT (Just In Time) compiler.

    Java is platform independant, powerful and can run fast (...and should not be confused with Javascript).

    Re: A true C++ generator?

    Well said Joshtek. Emphasis on platform independant and interpereted language because MMF is not Platform independant, yet. Over time I'm sure it will be more like creating a java like runtime for cross platform compatibility but with the interface we all know and love.
