How do you make the scrolling smoother?

Try turning on v-sync in the properties and set the framerate to approx. the refresh speed of your monitor (usually 60hz) I think I heard that having it ~70fps with a 60hz monitor can have better results, so experiment a bit.

70 FPS on a 60hz display being smooth? Where the heck did you get _that_ from? It should be 60 FPS on a 60hz display. Basically, the FPS should be capped at the same speed as the display refresh rate. Otherwise movement will be jumpy.

Yes, I know it *should* be 60fps, but because the fps in MMF is a cap, it means that the fps is often slightly below what it's set to. Having it set to 60 would cause it to be slower than the refresh, making some frames appear over 2 refreshes, looking jerky, but 70 makes it faster, so the worst that could happen is that an occasional frame is skipped, which looks far less jerky.

I find that the higher I set the refresh rate of the application the smoother it gets, dispite the moniter being set to 60hz, having v-sync on seems to make it exactely as un-smooth as though I had set it to 60hz even if it's actually set higher, (as it has to syncronise with what the moniter is set to or whatever).

I've managed to get really smooth scrolling going with it set to 80hz or more

It turns out it only stutters on my ancient PC, any other GOOD PC is fine...

v-sync makes the fps go slower, down to your monitor's refresh rate. So if your monitor runs at 60hz and you set 80fps, v-sync will use 60 instead.
