    Getting something above a video

Hi. This is my first post, and after getting MMFPro and MMF2Dev I would like to glad Clickteam for this great software, that helps to make a lot of small apps I need to deliver at work at the speed of light!

What I would like to get now is a video player that can adjust the brightness of the video. I thought that maybe I could put an active picture (a simple black rectangle)in front of a directx of AVI object, and change the ink value of the transparency of the active picture object.

But I found that I can't put anything (as far as I know) in front of these video objects.

Could I put a subapplication in front the video object and make it a little transparent?

Finally, any other suggestions to adjust brightness of a video object?

    Thank you, and greetings!

    Well, maybe I laught too early <img src="/center/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

This is very interesting but I can't put anything in front of the video that can have a bit of transparency. If I set the ink effect to semitransparency in the active object, the effect works when the object runs over the background, but not when the object runs over the video.

Ok... to bad :\... I have'nt tried this so i don't know how it works... try using different layers and stuff like that and see if it helps..

EDIT: Just tried it... very wierd behaviour.. :\ (I used an active with alpha channel)

EDIT2: It ignores anything with an alphsa channel and or transparency.

Re: Getting something above a video

Yeah, you have to understand that the video isn't really 'behind' the active objects. It's not inserted into the MMF layer stack and rendering process.
So objects with ink effects and alpha will not blend with the colors of the video. What it does is "project" the video on every pixel with an RGB value of 16,0,16 on the whole MMF display. If you use fully opaque objects with crisp edges, you can have the object masking the video and fake it being in front of it.

And it only works on Window XP

Yep... That sounds correct... It was worth a shot though ^^
Let me know if you find another solution to this problem

Re: Getting something above a video

hmmm... Interestingly, the Animation Object *does* go on a background layer, and you can even PasteAsBackground in front of it.
it also has smooth playback, even at 800x600, and can play avi files (provided the codec is right, do we know which codecs are compatible with Animation Object?).

It lacks sound, but this could be fixed by storing the audio channel as an mp3 or something?

    what do you think?
