    Particles in MMF2?

Something really useful would be an extension who allows particle effects in MMF2. I don't look forward a conversion of the original "bullet & particles object" (rather buggy and definitely poor on documentation and support, since the author spoke only japanese), but on something brand new and native for MMF2.

Who will be the hero that will bring particles in MMF2?

I mean REAL particle effects, that doesn't affect CPU usage, as it was with the "bullet & particle object".

The object you mention it's just an active object shooter.

particles that doesnt effect cpu? magical particles? =P

as far as im concerned, all particles use cpu.

the easiest way is to just code them yourself, maximum control.

Unluckily, MMF2 isn't really a tool for particle-based systems because it cannot handle many active objects, all moving and probably animated (not even mentioning alphachannels or semitransparency). Better make an extension that handles pixels, or use another programming tool.

Oh come on, I mean: "particles that affect CPU far less than using active objects", exactly as for "bullet & particle object" mentioned above.

I was thinking about this a while ago... A particle Object would be nice... This is not a particle handling extension but merely a "CPU Cheap" version of the active object mainly used for particles with the Particle sprayer.. I'm gonna investigate this...

I was rather thinking a good pixel-drawing object would be better, to draw/remove pixels on the screen. One could make some good and fast particle effects that way.

    Re: Particles in MMF2?

That would be nice to.. Although it would be nice to be able to use images as particles, just not in huge amounts!

My brother once made an example of a particle engine using pixels, it handled thousands of particles!

    Re: Particles in MMF2?

Exactly.. you could save a lot of cpu usage if MMF2 in both ways..

Even a "simple" pixel-drawing extension, if 100% stable, would be great (Game Maker can do that, MMF2 should be able to do at least the same things).. even better would be, as for the Akane's bullet object, having also a collection of particle types ready to use, where you can input by event dimension, colours and so on..
