    Windows Vista an install creator

    hi,
I use install creator "free" since a few years ago, and all work fine but I got an email from the Swedish translator of my program and it seems there is a problem with the fonts installation :

"I have looked at English "DiagTransfer 2.0.10" in Windows Vista
("Microsoft Windows (Version 6.0.5384)" id est
"Windows Vista Beta 2 Customer Preview Program and saw a few things...

There it does not display the fonts as it should if it is not
installed with that operative system and you will get an warning
from "User Account Control" "Unidentified Publisher""

Which font do you use in your installer? If you use a font that is not installed with Vista, then Windows will display them with the most similar font that is installed.

[]you will get an warning from "User Account Control" "Unidentified Publisher"" [/]
You get the same message with Windows XP when you download a file from the Internet and run it (Windows stores somewhere that this file has been downloaded). If the file is signed, then Windows displays the signature of the publisher. If the file is not signed, it says the publisher is not identified. So, you should sign your installer but I think the user will still get a message when s/he runs it.

Maybe I haven't understood. Do you install this font for use in the application that you install? Or do you use this font in the installer itself?

Re: Windows Vista an install creator

Windows Vista asks about everything that is performing a change to the system, including any kind of installer. Having used most of the beta versions of Vista, there are methods to shut this off so that it wont ask as much, but it's completely normal for Vista to see anything non-Microsoft based, as "Unidentified" or "Untrusted"
