Ah, then i have misread your questions. Sorry. It's just that too much newbies starts with the almighty RPG or even an MMORPG

What stays is this part: Nobody can tell you how big your frame has to be. That's a thing of how much stuff is going on at the frame, the size of background graphics, the size of sprites, special ink effects, the power of your destination PC, and so on.

And in this case my advice is: build a frame. Then tinker around with it. Throw in some enemies to test out with how much enemies the game still runs smooth. Now have a look. Makes no sense to create a monsterbig frame when just 5-10 enemies are possible.

This gives you a rough sight how things are. Then go on with GUI, and and and ...

i wasn't saying you couldn't make a huge frame. I was just stating that it would take far more tremendous amount of time.

    Re: When making an rpg...?

I kinda agree with Tiles... i'v been usin clickteam's production for 6-7 years now... (started with click and play, then passed over to game factory, mmf1.5 and now mmf2)
for the first year i only made some charachters moving on the screen adding sounds so it'll look like they talk... i made some shooters games like spaceships and platform games... i actually enjoyed doin that stuff and didnt even thing im able to do an RPG game with these production. about 3 years ago I made an advanture game using only 1 frame for all the area's, i loaded the background from a file a made and it actually looked like im moving frames.
I hate useing too many frames cuz it wights too much, i suggest 1 frame for the game, and 3-5 more frames for main menus and stuff.
    my game: www.black-diamond.co.il

after that i didnt really learn new things about MMF i only find smarter and shorter ways to solve problems... what tiles was talking about isnt 100% true, cuz its not only knowladge its also experiance.

right now im working on an MMORPRTG (massive multiplayer online role playing real time game) and its NOT EASY for me at all :|
(btw i tried to do such game a year ago and failed, now i tried again and its almost done)

I dont think u should leave that RPG project now, but i also dont think u should count on success in 100%
dont worry, u gain experiance and knowladge when time goes by, im sure ull success one day

and here is a tip for you:
dont start adding tree by tree npc by npc to ur game, make it load them from a file, u can use array object or list object..
make urself a map editor... dont create the map in the level editor of the game. try to load as much stuff as u can from files thats a good way to avoide lots of black work

    good luck
