File object - file selector saving issues

    Hello All
I've been have trouble with the Common Dialog Object and decided to remove it from my MMF2 upgrades because it is just inconsistent, one day it opens one day it doesn't.
I think it was like this in MMF1.5 but it did not show up as much.

I thought I could use the Open and save selector from the File object but there issues here.

I need to use counter to track what is happening eg. If Alt A=2 and the load or save is completed then AltA=3 but if cancelled then Alt A=0
This is OK for loading events

    Alt A=2
    Last action OK
    FileSelRetun$(file object) exists

    To continue or

    Alt A=2
    Last action OK
    Negate - FileSelRetun$(file object) exists

    To stop.

If someone cancels then Alt A is reset by the second group of events.

However for Saving I don't care whether the file exists or not, it must save unless the cancel selector window is selected.
If I just use last action OK the file is written even if the user cancels so I have to include the following

    Alt A=2
    Last action OK
    FileSelRetun$(file object) is writeable

But now it does not save if no file already exists.

Is there a way around this that allows me to save a file via the file selector whether it exist already or not, but not if the users closes the selector without pressing save.
Any solutions would be much appreciated.

Is this a bug? Just reading your post makes me think "Last action OK" should not be true if they pressed cancel.

The File Selector action sets the filename to "" if the user presses Cancel, just compare FileSelRetun$(file object) with "".

Note: I think the error code is not set by the Open Selector action, no need to use Last Action OK.

    Yves.

    That's the one Yves
    Works fine now.
And I don't need the Last Action OK either.

    Many Thanks
