    Wii Remote Extension (Request)

I just recently found out that the Wii Remote communicates with the Wii console using Bluetooth. I know that programs like GlovePIE exist, but it would be even better if we could call on the Wii Remote functions directly from Multimedia Fusion 2!

With an extension that can receive information from the Wii Remote, we could create our own games that utilize the motion-sensing capabilities of this awesome device. And best of all, we could create games that would otherwise need two mice - we can use 2 Wii remotes instead. Someone should consider making such an extension.

    What do you think?

I think it's a great idea if someone could get it working, I second the idea.

PS: I was just talking to a friend of mine a few days ago, about how well my game would work, if the Wiimote was used to play it. So yeah, great mind think alike, no?

If GlovePIE supports it, just log all movements into a file

But using that method, all variables have to be updated every frame, so saving/loading to a text file - would that be efficient? Even then, if there isn't an extension, we won't be able to distribute Wii Remote games without having a notice to 'download GlovePIE and then open the given script in it, then press Run etc.'. Some people might not like all the hassle. Some might not even understand what they have to do, and so they won't be able to enjoy your game.

It would be better if the stand-alone game itself could retrieve input from the Wii Remote. If there are copyright issues, the 'Wii Remote Extension' could just be used with the agreement that your game will not be sold.

It would be great if there was an extension like this. And imagine all the new titles that might popup on The Daily Click...

The WII remote does not function alone : remember when you installed your WII, you had to put a kind of bar sensor over or under the TV: this bar takes an active part in the detection. It will not work without it, and I doubt that Nintendo would make a PC sensor bar...

Actually, the "sensor bar" is nothing but a pair of infra-red lamps. The remote does the actual sensing and broadcasts the results back to the pc.

I've seen videos on the net of people using the wiimote to play hl2 (using the motion sensing (accelerometers) not the aiming (sensor bar)), so I would guess that there is a driver somewhere that shows the wiimote as a joypad.
