Building an .exe issue - this one is wierd :s

OK, hi all!

I have a little problem - it isn't major for now but is a concern.

I'm not too sure why this is happening. I am trying to build a executable from 1.43gb worth of files (they are a load of big bitmaps - 4mb each [cool]). Anyways I am using the 'maximum' compression setting and all I get is my PC seems to freeze when it gets to about 10% every time (have tried 3 nights in a row now).

I can compress at fast without any problems and it compresses down to 245mb :-o

I will try normal tonight - is this becuase of my PC specs? Note: My norton was on first night, then tried it turned off but still froze.

Just I need this to be below 100mb if at all possible ... if we cannot find a fix then I can simply use the option to save as two files (one .exe and the other .dat?).

Wouldn't it be better to use .pngs instead?

Can't do that within FS.

I successfully did it using the option 'normal' compression last night and everything is fine. It even managed to compress down to under 60MB *very shocked*

The maximum compression tries to compress differences between files, it's very slow if you have lots of files (or big files).

The fast compression mode simply uses the ZIP compression routines to compress files. The normal compression mode uses the best of BZIP2 & ZIP to compress files, and usually BZIP2 works better with graphic files, that explains why its much better in your case (as you have lots of bug graphic files).
