    Rotate at object

Hi, I need a boost in the right direction.

How do I make a object point (rotate or look at) at another object (360 degrees)? Do I use the advanced direction object? How do I do this?

While on the subject, how do I make that object shoot an object directly at that point? Once again, using 360 deg rotation.

    JT

    Re: Rotate at object

Moving one object towards a position is easy with the Move It object. Either that, or that other Move object. I forget which specializes in what.

The Advanced Direction Object can calculate the direction (360 degrees or more) between two points. It can also get the distance and such. Very useful.

    Re: Rotate at object

You can of course do all of this also without any extensions using right angled triangles.

The distance between Active1 and Active2 is equal to:

    sqrt((x1-x2)+(y1-y2))

The direction that Active1 holds to look at Active2:

    tan-1((x1-x2)/(y1-y2))

    Re: Rotate at object

I'm having problems with the second expression:
    Set angle: ATan((X( "OB1" )-X( "OB2" ))/(Y( "OB1" )-Y( "OB2" )))

    Any suggestions?

I should specify, OB1 is the cursor. I want OB2 to always point (rotate) directly at the cursor as I move it around.

    Re: Rotate at object

Rotate towards the leader frame in the Vector Movement example does pretty much as you want. It rotates towards an object but it is a simple change to rotate towards xmouse, ymouse.

I like that method better because advanced direction always wants to round the answers to integral values.

    Re: Rotate at object

The expression doesn't work. When one of the sides has a negative value it ceases to function properly.
