    Sound samples don't play in exe

    Hello. I'm playing sound samples that are embedded in the .mmf file in the data elements section, and it works fine when the game is in .mmf mode. However, when I make the game into an exe or installer, then it does not play the sounds. Why does this happen? Are there requirements that I include the samples in the same folder, or include them in the installer? Thank you for your time.

    If you're using MMF's sound object with internally-stored sounds (which I think is still the only option at the moment for WAV/OGG) then you need to include the right sound filters in the compiled file. Sometimes, for one reason or another, the right ones aren't included. Go to "Sound Filters" in your Application Properties and see if you need to change them manually.

    Have you changed anything in your application properties under the sound filters?

    You shouldn't need to distribute any sound files with MMF unless your calling them via a paramter... IE AppDrv$ + AppDir$

    Is it happening with all your EXEs or just this one?

    Is data execution prevention enabled (it's a setting which you find somewhere in the control panel -> system -> advanced)?

    MMF2 will fail to play sound in case it is enabled (and unfortunately, DEP is getting more common these days).

    Thanks! I wasn't aware of the sound filters section; I clicked WAV and now it works. I wish there was somewhere I could go to read about all of the intricacies of this program besides fiddling around with it.
