    Sideways scoller / tilemap?

i'm going to create a sideways scrolling style game, however the levels are likely to be rather long as far as pixles goes.

everyone keeps saying i should use a tilemap, is this something that's possible/supported under MMF? i'm sure i could make a platfield and scroll through it, but it'd be huge and seems like the wrong way to do it.

i'm also curious if there is any examples of this around anywhere.

You will need to use the beckdrop object as this is the only object that will tilemap. You can also use the background system box but will need to put the whole image in this if you want to make a nice scrolly effect.

In MMF2 you can tile layers much easier than in MMF. Follow the how to instructions in the manual and you'll see how layers work if you have MMF2.

yeah, i'm certainly interested in where MMF2 makes this easier. i'll download the demo here and read the manual.

i read somewhere that tilemapping was a feature of MMF2. of course i also read elsewhere that it never came to be :|
