The program runs automatically if user logs in

Hello!
I found a registry key on the [color:#000099]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_registry site.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run

[color:#333333],,Specifies applications to run whenever a user logs in. These can include desirable programs, such as printer monitoring programs or frequently-used tools, but a lot of malware uses this registry key to ensure it is automatically run. This key is a common place to start looking for evidence of malware if a computer has been infected."

What do you think about this key? How does it work?
It would be useful for a chat program, a desktop pet or a frequently used software.

(I hope you can understand my English. )

"What do you think about this key? How does it work?"

Anything that goes in there will launch when they log in.

I think not as it would annoy people who don't want the program starting up when they didn't ask it to. (The other users)
Just putting the app in the local users startup folder should be sufficient or c:\documents and settings\all users\startmenu\programs\startup
That way they can SEE what is starting up instead of bothering you with "Where does it start up" or "How can I stop this error if I deleted it without uninstalling" If it's a popular app then expect this kind of bombardment.
