A few questions about Mooclick

I've been trying to figure moo out for years now. I started with Moo 1, then Moo 2, and then moved to Click and Game.

I finally understand how it works, but I still need some more info.

I want to make an RPG type game. Not really an MMORPG, but just a game where you can run around and talk to people. My questions are

1) How do you make people "zone" from one spot to another? I tried making a large map and moving their position across the map, but it left a copy of their player on the zone spot.

2) How do you go about customizing a character and letting everyone on the server see it? Right now everyone looks the same.

lets say I want to have a bar or house. when they go up to the door, must I kick them off the server and have them reconnect on the bar/house's frame, or can I keep them connected between frames?

No.

Once the connection is estabilished, you can join or leave channels/sessions. Also if you want to have go to the "bar" location, you simply use Channel: disconnect (I guess you are going to do simple game without doing server side stuff) and then Channel: join. You can be also on more channels at the same time.

You cant keep connection alive between frames, also you probably should use one large frame. I dont suggest you using more frames-you would have to code each frame and change each frame if necessary.
Try one large frame and use scrolling. If Player is connected and channel name="bar" ---> set screen to X,Y.

PS: About your first post, you wrote that it left the copy of player there. You have to code Destroy events. If you are working on simple non-server side game, use this:

User: On left
Alt value ID of OtherPlayersCharacter=User ID --->Destroy

I think the best option for having houses and rooms is what Blizna suggested secondly. Since you can't keep the connection alive between frames, it is best to have one big frame and just have a room in another part of it. You can then just set the player's coordinates to that part of the frame.

And as for customizing character, the same goes for saving any type of data. You save the information about the character on the server and when a player encounters another player the server sends the data about that player to the client, the client then changes the clothes that he sees accordingly.

Thank you very much! Blizna, you were so much help I tried it out and the zoning worked perfectly. Now I need to figure out the customizing character sprites thing tomorrow.

No problem, Im glad it helps.

Customizing sprites in MMF is a bit problem, since Actives have not something like "animation sets".
For guns or clothes etc. you would have to use new object.

User joins, recieves from the server that his gun value=2.
On this main user PC its easy, you just use always-set gun object to character position. To let other users to see your clothing its a bit harder.
The best way is to send clothing info to all session, this message HAS TO contain the ID of player.
When you recieve this message, its proccessed as I wrote above.
When others recieve this message, client creates "cloth" object and sets its ID to ID in the message, also ID of cloths owner. Then, due to MMF bad object selection, you have to always spread the values of players and clothes and let fast loop to do the rest.

There is example with INI files ("*" is delimiter for parsing)

Session: On join -->Set INI file to SC_GetName.dat
Session: Send to whole session (INI, Main, Clothing)+"*"+Get_ID

That was server. Now client:
On recieved server message
+subchannel is something ----set string parser to content
