"Error while opening file" with .exe file

When running the .exe file made from my app I get an error message "Error while opening file". When clicking the "Ok" button it continues and all seems ok.
The message shows up just before showing the frame. This happens for every frame. It seems to load the frame but before showing it the message appears. And it does not at all show my subapp.

There is no indication in the message on what may cause problem.
I have the "include external files" checked. The "Compress the runtime" checked with normal compression.

What may be the problem here? Anyone else had this happen?

    -------- edit ------------
When unchecking the "Include external files" the message does not show up.
What may be the reason for that?

Re: "Error while opening file" with .exe file

Is there an external file that should be loading but isn't in the right place? Sounds like it's trying to load a file but can't find it. Are you sure you've spelt the filename correctly?

Re: "Error while opening file" with .exe file

I have moved the .mfa file and the directories with files that are called from the app to another drive. And gone through all "file calling" to adjust eventual wrong paths.
    Created an .exe file.
Now I get a message in the error when running the .exe file: Cannot find kcedit.mfx!

I found one thread about it in the forum. I have tested with/without "Compress at runtime" and "Include external files". I still get the same error message.

    Any more ideas?

Are you using the sub-application object / CCN files?

    Yes Joshtek, I am.
I am trying to narrow it down now. Testing, testing ... I'll be back.

If you use an object/extension inside your sub-application/CCN you must have that object also within your main application, even if in an inaccessible frame.

Open up your sub-application then go to View->Data Elements. The Extensions tab should list the name and filename of objects used in your sub-app. All of these extensions (e.g. kcedit.mfx AKA the Edit Object) should feature in your main application.

Re: "Error while opening file" with .exe file

This is what I have so far:

It now works if I uncheck the "Include external files". Also when having the "Compress runtime" checked.

The subapp is an inventory of sort. It has a backdrop, 10 Active Pictures, 2 Array Objects and 1 counter. The Extension list in Data elements shows Array and Picture Object, nothing under the other tabs.

So the problem must be in the "main app". I have 1075 events so I'll have to go through it tomorrow when brain is rested. [crazy]

    Thanks Joshtek for "support". [smile]

Hmm... maybe the Include External Files option doesn't work with sub-apps, I'll check.

PS: the "Error while opening file" message is displayed when MMF2 cannot open a CCN file (or the main application).

Oh, I see. I'll do a new test app with subapp and test some more.
    Thanks Yves!

Re: "Error while opening file" with .exe file

Made a simple "main app" and subapp and it is clear it has something to do with the subapp when including files.

If it is of any help HERE is the file (21 Kb zipped)
