    Speed Issues

I have multiple objects in my game that essentially move in the same direction, yet on different paths. all straight lines, left to right. I finished tweaking some of the things last night and tested it, the speed seemed adequate enough. But the thing is, the speed of the objects seemed to have sped up tremendously on one of my school's computers. I'm not sure what is causing the problem. Anyone know? Thanks

It says that it'll make the program run just as fast on slower computers, does it work vice versa for faster computers?

Machine independent speed will make the game run at the same speed on all computers, but on slower computers it will skip frames to keep up with the FPS you specified (50 by default).

I honestly don't know why Machine Independent speed is off to begin with.

I never use machine independent speed, urgh. It's made scrolling games look bad whenever I've used it.

    Re: Speed Issues

That's because you're running it at a frame rate thats too fast for the computer you're playing it on, Shaun. On my game Tuki Tuki Island, i have set machine independant speed on, and frame rate to 30. It runs perfectly smooth on most computers ive tried it on. I don't think theres many computers that struggle to keep up with 30fps on a MMF game.

    Re: Speed Issues

I might have found the problem, yet i'm still unsure what causes it. If I were to transfer my .exe game via a external storage unit from my computer to another computer, the speed goes up dramatically. But if I transfer via email, so if I email it to myself and open it up on a different computer, the speed is fine. It's just as I made it. Weird.

    Re: Speed Issues

I have no idea how that could affect the speed.
Are you sure that the reason?

    Re: Speed Issues

It seems so, I mean for every person I sent the game thru via AIM (file transfer) or email, the game worked fine. But if i were to bring it to my school or work with my external storage device, the speed would be affected.
