    All please read! About a new extension...

    Hi everybody!
    I was going to make a new extension as a suprise for the community, poorly enough, im out of ideas, and as i still learning alot about C++, my programming is very limited (can't make very advanced extensions + no graphical).
    Anyway i've been thinking about this choices:
    1) Update the ID3 Object : making it no need for DLL (if possible) and enable Writing tags to the file... Also looking into the Get Title problem (if it exists ??)
    2) Update the Secounds to Hours, Minutes and Secounds Object : making it possible to convert from minutes to HMS and hours to HMS and refreshing the code some...
    3) Both alternative 1 and 2 :grin:.
    4) Making a all new extension (from your requests, but VERY simple ... Link to any Lib would be a plus .
    5) MMGFM extension! HaHa!
    6) Nothing, we dont need anything! (Would make me dissapointed if someone votes on that xD)
    Please say which of the alternatives you'd like best.
    Btw: idea is needed fastly if i'm going to get ready for the "day" heh...

    ...hmm ... ... .. OH NO, now it's no more suprise anymore! .. but wait, you still dont know when it's gonna be released (it will propably be on a day, you might can guess, but dont tell if you know!

    I'd suggest number 3 and 4... but I dont know what to suggest. Maybe a torrent object which could be used for update programs, torrent downloaders (obviously), file transfer (in some fashion). I could provide a link to a c++ lib aswell if you like the idea

    A new object that should be simple to create would be a screenshot object, with the ability to capture into jpg (or some other compressed filetype), instead of bmps.

    It would be good if you could make it without having to include an extra dll at runtime (if possible). I'm not sure about libs, but I'm confident there are plenty around for it. Thanks.

    you can just use the image manip object to convert BMP's into JPG's! so a extension for that isnt really needed!

    I disagree- if you save a screenshot as a JPG it will be much smaller than it would be as a PNG.

    JPG is not for photo but JPG is for picture with a lot of colors and not a lot of contrast.

    workshop2 - You're right, I should have thought of that.

    LIJI - I also disagree, JPGs are usually smaller than PNGs.

    I can't think of anything else simple to make at the moment :P

    Of course, it depends a bit on what the graphics looks like, but pictures with a lot of solid colour areas and horizontal gradients always gets a whole lot smaller with the png format, so all my games would produce smaller png screenshots than jpg's...

    The greatest adventage is that png is lossless, by that reason, it's obvious that you should save screenshots to png rather than jpg. People can always convert it to a jpg later, but they can never restore the quality lost if it's saved as a jpg in the first place.

    - small images with lot of colors : PNG 24BPP
    - small images with few colors : PNG8BPP or GIF
    - big images with lot of colors and less contrasts : JPG MQ
    - big images with few colors : PNG8BPP or GIF
    - big images with lot of colors and contrasts : JPG HQ or PNG24BPP

    MQ = medium quality
    HQ = high quality
    few colors = less than 256

    + PNG8BPP or GIF are some good formats for images with few colors. They are not always destructive formats if your image don't have more than 256 colors...
    + PNG24BPP is a good format and must be used if you don't want to alter tha quality of your image
    + JPG is a good format if you want a small file size but it's a destructive format (if quality is less than 100)
