    Re: Beta: Lua+

    A simple application like this wont freeze
    Code:
    ........
    int main()
    {
    	while(1)
    		cout << "Hello";

    	return 0;
    }
    - Have a miss the point? o.o

    Btw: I don't know if it will works with graphic applications.

    The only reason you can terminate that program is because you can simply close the console. If you programmed an application where you did not have such functionality then it would be very easy to lock up your program with an infinite loop.

    Re: Beta: Lua+

    I just tied this object again, it still seems horribly unstable...

    Here's the most basic of things that I've tried, which makes it crash:

    Every Second: Lua->CallFunction("One")
    ListBox->AddLine("return: "+FromLua_StringReturn$( "Lua+", 1))

    I figured maybe it was 0-based index, but that gave a lua error, saying I was out of bounds.

    Anyway, the "one" lua function looks like so:
    function one()
    return "ONE"
    end

    Very simple. Not something that should make this thing crash if even the most basic of testing had ever been done. :P

    Re: Beta: Lua+

    Coce6: You are using the latest build of MMF2, right? We can't stress that enough since things can change regarding extensions.

    A note to users: all reports here concerning new extensions should be based on having the latest build since we can't fix things backwards

    Of course, the "latest" build would be the official one on the right, forum panel. I wanted to make that clear since we have some beta build(s) going on that concern Java and soon, HWA.

    Thanks.

    Re: Beta: Lua+

    I'm using Build247, a beta build, in fairness. Wait, I guess not anymore. (I just downloaded it yesterday, thinking it was still in beta... - had to reinstall MMF2, since my laptop exploded )

    OK, yeah, so I'm using the latest stable build.

    This extension has been unstable for me since the dawn of time, so let me get to the bottom of this. Maybe I'm wrong. I will upload an example of the crash.

    well, looks like I lost the example I was working on to test the stability...

    I'll be back...

    Re: Beta: Lua+

    Bug: When I first drop the extension into MMF2, I get a message "Don't forget to change the identifier [in the SDK]!"

    Well, I downloaded the lastest version of Lua+...since Fusion Updater doesn't have it...

    It doesn't crash now, but it still doesn't seem to work. At least what I was trying to do in my last post.

    Here's the example:
    http://puchisoft.com/LuaPlusTest.zip

    Edit: Oh, and while I was uploading that, I found my old crash test: http://puchisoft.com/LuaP Test.rar

    Again, no more crash, yet it doesn't do the correct thing.
    It calls a function with a string parameter. That parameter is added to another string, and returned.
    The error it gives says that the string parameter is actually a function, and therefor can't be added to a string...

    Edit: Here's an in-post quick example of what doesn't work:

    Code:
    function two(ztext)
     print("Hey "..ztext)
    end
    The action: Push String Parameter "Bob"; Call Lua Function "two" in this thread;

    Gives Error: Attempt to concatenate local ztext (a function value)

    ----

    So basically there are two things that DO NOT work for me:

    1) Passing parameters to a LUA function (Nothing is every passed, but I can hack my way around this, by setting Global Lua Variables, and then using those in lua functions, rather than its parametres -- annoying)
    2) Getting any returned information from a LUA function

    ---
    But things that DO work:

    -Calling LUA functions without parameters :|
    -Calling MMF functions WITH parameter (Perfect ^_^)
    -Setting Variables, using them in lua

    I don't care about LUA functions not being able to return data, but I really need to be able to pass parameters to Lua functions.

    If this does work, and I'm just not doing it right, please provide an example.

    Re: Beta: Lua+

    To demonstrate the issue I'm having the most simple and straight forward way possible, I have made a comparison example, showing the issue happening in Jam's Lua+, and not being a problem in Vortex's Lua:
    http://www.clickteam.com/epicenter/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=70446

    PS: The reason I'm very much behind getting Lua+ fixed is that I wish to use it.
    Vortex's Lua is having some complicated issues that would probably require him to recode it from scratch.

    Re: Beta: Lua+

    I've been ill lately and I haven't done much programming work.. I will get round to it as soon as I can (I also have some stuff to add to the Console object for neat_Kliker).

    Re: Beta: Lua+

    Thanks for fixing that.

    Another issue, although not a very important one:
    The same problem of not passing parameters still happens when calling functions in an expression; a feature you have that the other Lua object didn't have.

    Also, this is only speculation, but is it possible that your Lua object is significantly slower than the other one? I fully replaced the other Lua object with yours in my latest online game Smiley Country, and I noticed a large slow down.
    However! It is only speculation since I have done this on a slower PC.
    So don't worry about it for now, just if you are really bored and feel like going on a witch hunt.
