    Compiling into Java

Ok so I heard that in the near future (ok maybe not NEAR) that we will be able to compile our games into the java format to distribute on multiple platforms. Does this mean we can do custom scripting stuff with java inside MMF2 as well? (I hope so, because I'm learning java this year).

It would be cool if you could use java as a substitute for the event list in some cases.

Java extensions will be supported. I am not expecting MMF2 to support "embedded Java code on the fly" any more than it supports "embedded C++ code on the fly". Best you can do is use the Lua object.

So will there be much of a performance hit?

It will be hard to say exactly how the performance will be until we have a beta to look at.

Did you happen to take a viewing of Francois talk at the convention about it? That has all the info so far known about it.

The link is up in the Clickteam news forum for the link to all the convention videos.

I had a look at the HWA video though. Couldn't make out a lot of the audience's questions though.

I'll look at the java port video now.

One of topic question: Will HWA works with Java compiled games?

There might be a possibility, but I'm not sure if it works well.

    Re: Compiling into Java

Well this has made me actually think about buying MMF2 now, i owned MMF back in the 1.2 days and 1.5, buit they only thing that kept me from actually buying it nowadays is the fact i am a big fan of OSX and Ubuntu Linux. This is a huge step for you clickteam guys and i will certainly be considering buying MMF2 now!

When will we find out if HWA will work with Java?

I also heard from the video i think Francois said you are planning to port MMF itself to other OS's and this is a start??

    Re: Compiling into Java

I still think that it'd be feasibly easy for Clickteam to support OS X by doing something like wrapping built MMF applications in a little custom wine binary loader.
