    Ideas and improvements?

    Hi there.
I'm looking back on my old extensions are think they need some updating.

    AGBO
Not many people seem to fully understand how AGBO works so I was wondering if people find it too illogical or has too many features?

I know it is a pain to search for many types of connected bricks:
-- Search horizontally for brick type 1
-- Search horizontally for brick type 2
-- Search horizontally for brick type 3
    ...
-- Search vertically for brick type 1
-- Search vertically for brick type 2
-- Search vertically for brick type 3
    ...

So I want to add a new action that searches for any type of connected bricks and will have check boxes were you can select which kinds of searches should be made (hoz,vert,diag1,diag2)
How does that sound? That way you don't have to mark bricks to deletion later. (this seems to confuse people alot)

When I first made AGBO, a game board was supposed to consist of a grid of actives that just represented the current state inside the AGBO board. This was a bad idea IMHO and I later added features to allow users to change from an active object representing a cell in the board to an active representing a brick in the board. I think this still confuses users.
Does it confuse you and what do you think can be done to clarify this?

Also planned action: Rotate bricks around a center-brick.
Do you have more feature ideas to manipulate the board's bricks in an easy way?

    MoveIt
I personally love my MoveIt object since it makes movement of stuff so much easier (for example bricks from an AGO board 'on brick moved' )
Right now the movement is only linear.
Which kinds of extra movement modes would you like to see?
    I plan on adding acceleration/deceleration.
An interpolated smooth turning movement would probably be possible somehow. Any ideas?

    Sticky
Haven't had time to work on this lately

I always encountered problems with MoveIt, so I eventually gave up trying to use it and just did what I needed with loops. But I can't remember of what sort the problems were. So uh.. I doubt this post was helpful :/

Yes, I think the object should be opened up for ideas and an update in the future and when you are ready.

No two ways about it, it has been a big step for those kinds of games.

I do think it could be made a bit easier to use, but we probably would want to revisit it and give that careful thought.

If you have read up on the Array Standard, you can see that we have been talking along the these lines with hopes of taking complex, multi-faceted capabilities, make them inter-connected, and simplify usage.

There was a bug I found the easy-grid features that I can't recall right now, also.

Darn it you going to make my Gem Rotation Idea in Gem Fusion easy for everyone to do!, You have to wait at least 6 months after its release before you do that! LOL Just Kidding (But Seriously!) Dodgeball Movie Joke

I love AGBO object, It has been as you know critical in Gem Fusion's development, In all Honesty I think it works fine, And in the conversations you and I have had with Gem Fusion I have found most problems Easy to overcome, So In my opinion Making huge changes to the current object would not be necessary, adding new stuff is always Welcome!

Marking bricks I admit we have not used in the game so I can not speak to its usefulness, And based on your last PM I am going to try the following, though perhaps this is a area that can be added in the next potential build of the extension.....

Gem Fusion as a match three game needs three gems of the same color to line up either horizontally, diagonally or vertically then they are destroyed, Play testing reveals though that the players feel that if any gems of the same color as the three matched are attached to the line collaterally, (See Diagram)

then they also should be destroyed, I think you could achieve this through Marking the connected three gems with the current extension by a event saying if "Unmarked Brick Type A is connected to Marked Brick Type A then Mark", followed by A "destroy all Marked Bricks" event that would achieve, though I have had difficulty in doing so, So what I am saying is this could be interesting feature to add to the connection routines you have already included! Just a thought, And I hope it helps a little in your mission

You can detect connected bricks like in your image with the "Connected" search. It takes a brick cell index (x,y) and gives you back a list of all bricks connected to the brick that exists on that x,y position (of the same type only of course)
It doesn't check in diagonal directions though.
