Why I Might Give Up MMF2

After using KNP/TGF/MMF2 for over 10 years I'm almost at a point where I am ready to give up.

I've put up with so many bugs, errors, things happening for no reason. Every version has got better (the initial TGF was horrendous for doing things for no apparent reason)...

I was nicely happy with MMF2, and now since I have installed the latest update I have a random invisible block that ends the level. I haven't made this, there is no invisible object that affects the level, it just creates it randomly.

I hope someone can tell me how to fix this!! (thank you if you can) But otherwise I am putting down my mouse until someone can... I don't need the stress of things Ive put several days/weeks of work into breaking randomly for no reason.

Sorry peeps. As a very long time user I felt it needed saying.

    Rob

Could you upload your MFA so we can take a look?

You might be starting a loop in a loop. If it is the same loop, it is a safety feature to close the program. It may not even be a bug at all and just a coding error.

Welcome to the wonderful world of programming. Stuff happens, you can't give up with glitches arise, thats what workarounds are for.

You say that an invisible block ends the level? Just the level, or is it crashing the game itself?
Anyway, post you mmf file, i'd be more than happy to take a look at it, I LOVE a challenge.

Thanks guys. I forgot how helpful everyone is here!
I don't mind bugs, its just I've been dealing with them for 10 years!!

...And now its stopped doing it (unless its moved again and I haven't found it)!!

I think it is crashing as it doesn't seem to do the end fade when it hits it.

If it does it again I shall post it up.
    Cheers everyone

I had a invisible obstacle appearing once in Knytt Stories when machine independent speed was enabled (I disabled that to fix it). The game had a very sophisticated level drawing system so something didn't go right with the drawing stuff when skipping frames...

It's too bad that you're giving up MMF2 though. To me it works perfectly and it appears as if more or less all the bugs that haunted me earlier are all gone now.

Well, it started working again so I carried on... then the camera started shaking even though I hadnt changed anything in the events... then it happened again!!

I can't access my FTP right now though. I shall upload when I can.
    Thanks

That sounds so odd though. Nothing like that has ever happened to me (and I have over 10 years of experience). Perhaps you're using some extension that causes the problems...? Perhaps it's your actual events?

Re: Why I Might Give Up MMF2

MMF2 is pretty solid now. If it was for MMF1.5 or MMF2 earlier version i would have joined the "Burn MMF" rebellion. ClickTeam kept their promises. Altough it took nearly 1 year...
I was at the CC and heart they have great plans. I still think CT should once decide to expand the team, but even that is already done as i beleive they put Chris on the extensions. My trust in MMF is restored. Whatever bug you are facing now, im sure that if you send Yves or Francoise the MFA they can look into it. If CT keeps up the "update/patch" rate with important fixes as it is, i don't see a reason to complain.
What i do wonder is that if MMF3 comes, they will have finished a solid MMF2. Because for those who do not want to upgrade, i doubt it would be pleasant if they get no support any longer while the product is still having bugs.

You won't find any development tools without bugs and Clickteam's support is second to none. MMF2 seems very stable to me, most "bugs" I find are my own creations

Be careful with 3rd party extensions, though.
