    No particle engine?

    Hello,

doesnīt MMF2 Dev. have a particle engine built in? I have searched but didnīt find any information on that. There even donīt seem to exist any extensions for that... Or am I completely blind?

So is importing pre-built animations the only possibility to get particle like effects - lets say explosions or sparkling effects etc.?

thanks for your answers in advance,
    mdk

    Re: No particle engine?

Thanks, thatīs very kind of you.

I was able to install it with the demo version! But it doesnīt seem to do anything when I add particles, set a lifetime etc. So is that what you meant by "requires a full version" - itīs installable but it does nothing?

Is there also any kind of documentation or any examples for your extension?

    Thanks a lot again,
    mdk

    Re: No particle engine?

There are examples and I think an example comes with the extension on how to use it.

You should probably wait for your full version.
Is this your first experience with MMF?

Because if it is, I think you should let us help you by saying make a small game to begin with keeping your eye on the prize later.

MMF is a professional tool, and it's a lot to take in. Most of the people here have been using a variation of these tools for a decade.

    Re: No particle engine?

I wasn't aware that the Bonus Packs could be installed with the demo. Hmmm.

When you receive your CD's, be sure to update your MMF2 to the latest build on the right panel here -->

    Re: No particle engine?

@00J: Thanks, Jamīs link just contains the mfx file, no examples. So you may be right - I should wait for the full version. I hope it arrives soon And yes, itīs my first contat with MMF (but Iīm not a newbie as far as multimedia production is concerned and Iīm a professional software developer/computer scientist (in a different field, though: databases) Iīm sure Iīll soon get the hang of MMF2 - I just have to get used to that style of "programming" - Iīm used to "real" programming writing actual code but this visual style of developing seems to be quite interesting and I want to get into game developing. So letīs see...

@Novabrain: No, the Bonus Packs donīt install with the demo version - Jam just posted a link to his mfx file - I was able to put that into the appropriate directory and the MMF2 Demo loaded it, too. But as I alreay wrote - Iīm not sure if it actually works in the demo as I donīt get any output of the object (but maybe Iīm doing something wrong - as there are neither examples nor a documentation.)
