I have no idea what that file is?
Are you sure you need it and it comes with MMF2 Developer?

Re: file- Default.cot - for screen capture object

    yeah

in the screen capture help section it sez

    Automatic launch of picture convertor.
This is the most powerful field in the dialog box.
Do nothing : the simplest mode. The capture is done with the given name (final name) and saved immediately. Simple and direct capture of the content of the frame.

NOTE: this is the only option available when the Capture Object is first downloaded and installed. To produce AVIs etc, you need to add to this list. Click on Edit, then on Import. Choose the file Default.cot from the Extensions folder. This file contains the default tool configuration, including Video for DOS.

When you next look at this list, you will notice some new options
eg Video for DOS -> AVI RLE 256 colors

Providing you have Video for DOS installed on your machine, the capture process can automate AVI production. (We strongly advise you to get a copy of this old, but powerful shareware utility. ). Let's imagine that you enter the following data

so to make the AVI file I need the default.cot and video for DOS

or do you know a different way to capture the AVI file?

    Thanx
    dave

I think you can get a fresh copy of Video for Dos here
    http://www.programmersheaven.com/download/3270/download.aspx

There must be more modern products to assemble a series of bitmaps into an AVI.. I am just not sure what is the best to suggest.

I don't see it on the MMF2 CDs so I am not really sure we distribute it with MMF anymore.
